The “vertical forest” architect Stefano Boeri.
The first example of Vertical Forest, consisting of two towers of 110 and 76 meters, will be built in the center of Milan. It will be home to 900 trees up to nine meters high and many shrubs and flowering plants.
Vertical Forest is a system that optimizes, collects and produces energy. The Vertical Forest helps filter out fine particles in the urban environment. The diversity of plants and their characteristics produce moisture, absorbs CO2 and dust, produce oxygen, protect from radiation and noise pollution, improving the comfort of living and saving energy. Watering of plants will be for the most part through a centralized system of filtration of the waters. Additionally, an area of 500 square meters of solar panels and systems that make use of geothermal energy are some of the eco-innovation that features the project.
